New FCPS Boundaries Could Rezone Winterset & Pine Ridge (Prosperity Ave) Out Of Mantua-Frost-Woodson in 2026
FCPS has begun the process of changing school boundaries to address capacity issues. Parts of our community, specifically Winterset & Pine Ridge (Prosperity Ave), could get rezoned to a new school pyramid starting in Fall 2026 through a rip-the-band-aid approach.
School changes are disruptive to the educational experiences and social connections of children, and there are other options:
Long overdue renovation at Mantua and/or addition of an Advanced Academic center to another school
Frost is projected to be under capacity through 2028-2029
Assign western reaches of current Woodson boundary to schools closer to their homes, improving Woodson capacity

SIGN OUR PETITION
Fairfax County Public Schools is embarking on a 16-month boundary review of our current school attendance zones, potentially moving us into a new school pyramid. Such a decision would dislocate our community, disrupt our children's learning, and sever ties that we've fostered over years.
A statement from the Mantua PTA Board
“The Mantua Elementary School PTA Board is closely monitoring the Fairfax County Public Schools Comprehensive School Boundary Review. It is the position of the Mantua PTA Board that our school is best served by keeping its existing school boundaries intact.
“A boundary change that eliminates parts of the current Mantua attendance zone could have negative impacts on our school and others in the Woodson pyramid, including creating safety issues associated with busing students across busy roads and highways; worsening proximity of students to their school, and increasing travel time.
“Capacity and enrollment issues at some schools in the Woodson pyramid can be resolved in ways that are in closer alignment with FCPS stated goals of establishing consistent attendance zones, reducing split feeders, minimizing travel time, and ensuring equitable access to programs and facilities.”

Dear [ ],
I understand that Fairfax County Public Schools is undergoing a school boundaries review. It is imperative that every FCPS student has equitable access to excellence and opportunities. In response to the County’s community engagement, I would like to provide my perspective and insight.
I have considered the impacts that adjustments could have on student well-being, instructional quality, and budget. As a resident of the [__] neighborhood within the boundaries of Mantua Elementary, Frost Middle, and Woodson High Schools, … ]
